Certificate in Health Worker Training (Co-operated with Employees Retraining Board (ERB))
(This Course is conducted in Cantonese)

 

Target Participants:

Unemployed or Unengaged eligible employees in Hong Kong who are intended to apply for the post of Health Worker. 

 

Course Objectives:

To equip trainees with the health knowledge, techniques and communication skills needed for elderly nursing care, and to enhance confidence and employability of trainees so that they can meet the job requirements of Health Worker.

 

Entry Requirements:

-          Completion Form 5 of secondary education (must be able to provide proof of educational attainment) or finished "Certificate in Progression Training for Care Workers" approved by social welfare department; and

-          Fulfill the registration requirements for health workers specified by the Social Welfare Department; and

-          Willing to engage in employment in the jobs trained for; and

-          Interested in elderly nursing care; and

-          Pass the interview

 

* Graduates with a Certificate in Health Worker can apply to become a Registered Health Worker accredited by Social Welfare Department

 

Course Fee:

Free of Charge

 

Course Duration:

312 hours (29 full days and 20 half days, approximately 13 weeks)

Chinese

 

Graduation Requirements:

Trainees will be awarded graduation certificate upon fulfilment of following graduation requirements:

-          Attain a minimum of 80% attendance rate (must attain 90% attendance rate for Unit II and 100% attendance rate for practicum unit); and

-          Attain passing marks (60% or above)  in overall course assessment including final examination (written examination and practical skill assessments); and

-          Attain passing marks (60% or above) in written examination (mid-term assessments and final examination); and  

-          Attain passing marks (60% or above) in practical skill assessments (mid-term assessments,  practicum training and final examination); and  

-          Attain passing marks (60% or above) in all compulsory questions in practical skill assessments

 

Remarks : Graduates with a Certificate in Health Worker can apply to become a Registered Health Worker accredited by Social Welfare Department on their own costs.

Course Assessment:  

Mid-term assessments : Inclusive of 2 written tests, 3 practical skill assessments, elderly home practicum training and Personal Attributes and Job Search Skills tests

 

Final examination: Inclusive of written examination and practical skill assessment

 

Trainees are entitled to 1 attempt of  re-assessment for written test, final examination (written examination), Mid-term and final practical skill assessments.
