Course Objectives:

To review the knowledge and skills of caring patients with renal diseases.

To equip the trainees with knowledge and skills of caring patients with end-stage renal failure and the skills of performing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, in order to enhance the nursing skills and quality of care.
Course Content:

Anatomy and functions of renal system
-
Complications of End-Stage Renal Failure (ESRF)
-
Renal transplant and the life adaptation after transplantation
-
Transplant rejection and its medical treatments
-
Common terminology in Urology
-
A healthy dietary management and lifestyle of renal patients
-
Basic concept of renal dialysis
-
Nursing care of peritoneal dialysis
-
The skills of changing dialysis fluid and the care of the Tenckhoff catheter
Entry Requirements:

Graduates of “Foundation Certificate in Care-related Support Worker Training” / Certificate in Health Worker Training; or
-
Registered Health Worker
** Applicants must be able to provide copies of supporting document upon enrollment

Certificate would be awarded upon fulfilment of following graduation requirements:

Attain a minimum of 80% attendance rate; and

Attain passing marks (50% or above) in both written examination and practical skill assessment
