Standard First Aid Certificate Refresher Course (SFAR)

 

Course Objective:

The course aims at refreshing the knowledge and skills of first aid for those who have been trained as qualified first aiders.

 

Course Contents:

  • Revision of CPR
  • Revision of bleeding management and bandaging technique
  • Revision of fracture management and bandaging technique

 

Course Duration: 9 hours or 8 hours (Full Day) (extra 3 hours for examination)

*Remarks: Attendance will not be counted. It is suggested for those who are qualified by other organization to attend all classes.

 

Class Size: 16 to 30 candidates per class

 

Entry Requirement: Holder of either one of the below certificates:

 (Accept application with copy of certificate which expired within 6 months on course commencement date)

  • Hong Kong Red Cross Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Hong Kong Auxiliary Medical Services First Aid Certificate, Disaster Medical Assistant Certificate
  • Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Association Adult First Aid Certificate
  • Hong Kong Civil Aid Service First Aid Certificate
  • Hong Kong Maritime Services Training Institute Elementary First Aid and Proficiency in Medical First Aid (Combined) Certificate
  • Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health Council Certificate of Competence in First Aid
  • Hong Kong Fire Services Department Ambulance Officer Initial Training Course Certificate, Ambulance Officer Foundation Training Course Certificate, Ambulanceman / Ambulancewoman Initial Training Course Certificate, Ambulanceman / Ambulancewoman Foundation Training Course Certificate, Basic Ambulance Aid Certificate, Advanced Ambulance Aid Training at First Responder Level for Firefighters Certificate

Examination Contents:

1. Written examination -  30 Multiple Choice Questions (complete within 20 minutes)
2. Practical examination

-  Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

-  Bleeding Management (complete within 6 minutes)

-  Fracture Management (complete within 6 minutes)

 

Re-examination:

  • Candidates with 1 or 2 subjects failed in the examination can apply for RE re-examination course once. A fee of $150 (1 subject) or $250 (2 subjects) will be charged. All re-examination should be taken within 6 months from the date of first examination.
  • Candidates with 3 or all subjects failed are required to retake the whole first aid course. (Full fee will be charged)

 

Certificate:

Students should get Pass in both written and practical examinations in order to get the Standard First Aid Certificate which is recognized by the HKSAR Government with 3 years validity.

 

Certificate Renewal:

Before the expiry date of the certificate or within 6 months after the expiry date of the certificate, participants can attend a Standard First Aid Certificate Refresher Course and pass the examinations to renew their certificates with 3 years validity.
