Standard First Aid Certificate Course (SFA)

 

Course Objective:

This is a First Aid Training Course recognized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSAR). The course aims at instilling basic first aid knowledge and skills to trainees so that they are capable of imposing first aid to victims.

  • Suffocation & Choking
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Burns & Scalds
  • Unconsciousness
  • Shock & Bleeding
  • Wounds & Bandaging
  • Trauma of Various Parts of Body
  • Medical Emergencies
  • Bone, Joint & Muscle Trauma
  • Environmental Related Health Problems
  • Introduction of Automated External Defibrillator
  • Transporting Victim
  • First Aid Equipments & Relevant Regulations

 

Course Duration: 30 hours (extra 3 hours for examination)

 

Class Size: 16 to 30 candidates per class

 

Entry Requirement: Aged 15 or above

 

Medium of Instruction: Cantonese, Putonghua or English

 

Instructor: First Aid Lecturer of Hong Kong Red Cross

Examination Contents:

1. Written examination

-  30 Multiple Choice Questions (complete within 20 minutes, passing score is 15 correct answers)

2. Practical examination

-  Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

-  Bleeding Management (complete within 6 minutes)

-  Fracture Management (complete within 6 minutes)

 

Training Material:

Students are required to bring their own Standard First Aid Certificate Course Bandage Pack or equivalent training material. (Training material is not included in the course fee. Students can order the materials through our website and collect them during face-to-face sessions, or purchase them in person at our registration centre.)

Certificate:

Students should fulfill the following criteria in order to get the Standard First Aid Certificate which is recognized by the HKSAR Government with 3 years validity.

  • At least 80% attendance (counted by session)
  • Pass in both written and practical examinations

 

Certificate Renewal:

Before the expiry date of the certificate or within 6 months after the expiry date of the certificate, participants can attend a Standard First Aid Certificate Refresher Course (SFAR) and pass the examinations to renew their certificates with 3 years validity.

 

Re-examination:

  • Candidates with 1 or 2 parts failed in the examination can apply for Re-Exam of Standard First Aid Certificate Course (RE) once. A fee of HK$200 for 1 subject and HK$300 for 2 subjects will be charged. All re-examination should be taken within 6 months from the date of first examination.
  • Candidates with 3 or all parts failed are required to retake the whole first aid course. (Full fee will be charged)

We could provide training at client’s premises; clients can also rent our premises for training. Please contact our staff for details.
