2023 Psychological First Aid Elementary One-day Course (1-day PFA)
What is PFA?
Psychological First Aid (“PFA”) is an evidence-informed intervention approach designed to reduce the initial distress caused by traumatic events and to foster adaptive functioning and coping capacity. Research showed that inappropriate psychological interventions can do harm on people who are distressed. With active listening in a non-intrusive and provide practical assistance in compassionate manner, it enhances immediate and ongoing safety, and provides physical and emotional comfort to the people in need. PFA can be applied with children, adults, families, communities, and first responders and other disaster relief workers.
Course Objective:
This course introduces the elementary skills of PFA and the action principles with an aim to foster the participants awareness of psychological well-being and enhance their adaptability and resilience in emergency. Apart from the theory discussion, the course offers in class role play exercise opportunity for PFA skills practicing in emergency scenario.

- 7 March 2023 (Tuesday): 19:00 – 22:00, Room 101, Hong Kong Red Cross Headquarters
Course Duration: 6 hours
Class Size: 30 participants
Entry Requirement: (1) Aged 18 or above (2) Interested in the course or needs PFA knowledge at work
Instructor: Psychologist or Volunteer Psychologist of Hong Kong Red Cross
Medium of Instruction: Cantonese with materials in Chinese
Course Fee: HK$600
Certificate: Certificate of attendance would be awarded to participants with 100% attendance
