Standard First Aid Refresher and

Automated External Defibrillation Certificate Course (FRA)

 

Course Objective:

The course aims at refreshing the knowledge and skills of first aid for those who have been trained as qualified first aiders. It also equips participants with Automated External Defibrillation (AED) basic theory and operation of the AED machine. Apart from theory, the course offers adequate practices.

 

Course Contents:

  • Anatomy and physiology of heart
  • Revision of CPR
  • Revision of bleeding management and bandaging technique
  • Revision of fracture management and bandaging technique
  • Rhythms in cardiac arrest
  • Theory for Automated External Defibrillation
  • Automated External Defibrillator
  • Operational procedures of Automated External Defibrillator
  • Safety and maintenance of Automated External Defibrillator

 

Course Duration: 12 hours ( 9 hours for Standard First Aid Refresher & 3 hours for AED), Extra 3 hours for examination.

 

Class Size: 16 to 30 candidates per class

 

Entry Requirement: Holder of either one of the below certificates:

(Accept application with copy of certificate which expired within 6 months on course commencement date)

  • Hong Kong Red Cross Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Hong Kong Auxiliary Medical Services First Aid Certificate, Disaster Medical Assistant Certificate
  • Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Adult First Aid Certificate
  • Hong Kong Civil Aid Service First Aid Certificate
  • Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health Council Certificate of Competence in First Aid
  • Accident & Emergency Training Centre, Hospital Authority Practical First Aid (PFA) Certificate
  • Hong Kong Fire Services Department Ambulance Officer Initial Training Course Certificate, Ambulance Officer Foundation Training Course Certificate, Professional Certificate in Ambulance Services (Ambulance Officer), Ambulanceman / Ambulancewoman Initial Training Course Certificate, Ambulanceman / Ambulancewoman Foundation Training Course Certificate, Professional Certificate in Ambulance services (Ambulanceman), Basic Ambulance Aid Certificate, Advanced Ambulance Aid Training at First Responder Level for Firefighters Certificate

Examination Contents:

1. Standard First Aid Examination:

a. Written examination

-  30 Multiple Choice Questions (complete within 20 minutes, passing score is 15 correct answers)

b. Practical examination

-  Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

-  Bleeding Management (complete within 6 minutes)

-  Fracture Management (complete within 6 minutes)

2. Automated External Defibrillation Examination:

a. Written examination

-  25 Multiple Choice Questions (complete within 25 minutes, passing score is 18 correct answers)

b. Practical examination

-  Automated External Defibrillation (AED)

Certificate:

Candidates should fulfill the following criteria in order to get the certificates which are recognized by the HKSAR Government with 3-year validity respectively.

1. Standard First Aid Certificate

  • Attendance requirement:

- Revision of bleeding management and fracture management are not counted in attendance

- 100% attendance of CPR session

* We recommend those who attained their qualification from other organizations to attend all sessions

  • Pass in both Standard First Aid written and practical examinations

2. Automated External Defibrillation Certificate

  • 100% attendance of both CPR and AED sessions
  • Pass in both AED written and practical examinations

* No assessment to examination result will be made and no qualification can be obtained if the students does not fulfill the above requirements.

 

Certificate Renewal:

Before the expiry date of the certificate or within 6 months after the expiry date of the certificate, participants can attend a Standard First Aid Certificate Refresher Course (SFAR) and Automated External Defibrillation Certificate Refresher Course (AEDR) and pass the examinations to renew their certificates with 3 years validity.

 

Re-examination:

  1. 1. Standard First Aid Examination:
  1. a. Candidates with 1 or 2 parts failed in the examination can apply for re-examination (RE) once. A fee of HK$150 (1 part) and HK$250 (2 parts) will be charged. All re-examination should be taken within 6 months from the date of first examination.
  2. b. Candidates with 3 or all parts failed are required to retake the whole first aid course. (Full fee will be charged)

 

  1. 2. Automated External Defibrillation Examination:
  1. a. Candidates who failed the written examination can apply for re-examination (REA) once. A fee of HK$150 will be charged. All re-examination should be taken within 6 months from the date of first examination.
  2. b. Candidates who failed the practical examination can re-take their examination once on-site for free.

We could provide training at client’s premises; clients can also rent our premises for training. Please contact our staff for details.
