Automated External Defibrillation Certificate Course 

(Blended Learning) (AEDB)

 

Course Objective:

This course aims to provide students the basic theory of Automated External Defibrillation and the operation of Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Students would enjoy flexibility to study theory part at their own pace, accessing the online learning platform anytime and anywhere. Apart from theory, the course offers adequate face-to-face practices.

 

Course Contents:

  • Anatomy and physiology of the heart
  • Rhythms in cardiac arrest
  • Theory of Automated External Defibrillation
  • Automated External Defibrillator
  • Operational procedures of Automated External Defibrillator
  • Safety and maintenance of Automated External Defibrillator

 

Estimated Online Learning Hour(s): 1 hour
Practical Session Duration: 3 hours (Included Examination)

 

Class Size: 6 to 8 candidates per class

 

Entry Requirement:

Aged 15 or above and holder of either one of the below valid certificates:

(Accept application with copy of certificate which is still valid on course commencement date)

  • Hong Kong Red Cross Standard First Aid Certificate (SFA) , Adult Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (ACPR), Integrated Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (TCPR)
  • Hong Kong Auxiliary Medical Services First Aid Certificate, Disaster Medical Assistant Certificate
  • Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Adult First Aid Certificate
  • Hong Kong Civil Aid Service First Aid Certificate
  • Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health Council Certificate of Competence in First Aid
  • Accident & Emergency Training Centre, Hospital Authority Practical First Aid (PFA) Certificate
  • Hong Kong Fire Services Department Ambulance Officer Initial Training Course Certificate, Ambulance Officer Foundation Training Course Certificate, Professional Certificate in Ambulance Services (Ambulance Officer), Ambulanceman / Ambulancewoman Initial Training Course Certificate, Ambulanceman / Ambulancewoman Foundation Training Course Certificate, Professional Certificate in Ambulance services (Ambulanceman), Basic Ambulance Aid Certificate, Advanced Ambulance Aid Training at First Responder Level for Firefighters Certificate
  • AHA Certificate issued by any training bodies of American Heart Association

Examination Contents:

1. Written examination

-  25 Multiple Choice Questions (complete within 25 minutes, passing score is 18 correct answers)

2. Practical examination

-  Automated External Defibrillation (AED)

 

Certificate:

Students should fulfill the following criteria in order to get the Automated External Defibrillation Certificate with 3 years validity.
  • Complete the theory part via online learning platform before examination
  • 100% attendance rate of practical session
  • Pass in both written and practical examinations

* No assessment to examination result will be made and no qualification can be obtained if the students does not fulfill the above requirements.

 

Certificate Renewal:

Before the expiry date of the certificate or within 6 months after the expiry date of the certificate, participants can attend an Automated External Defibrillation Certificate Refresher Course (AEDR) and pass the examinations to renew their certificates with 3 years validity.

 

Re-examination:

  • Candidates who failed the written examination can apply for re-examination (REA) once. A fee of HK$150 will be charged. All re-examination should be taken within 6 months from the date of first examination.
  • Candidates who failed the practical examination can re-take their examination once on-site for free.
 

Training Venue:

We could provide training at client’s premises; clients can also rent our premises for training. Please contact our staff for details.

 

*Remarks:

1. Estimated Online Learning Hour: Actual learning hour may depend on individual progress. Login notice email will be sent around 1 week** before practical curriculum. Students are required to finish reading all pages in the online study part using their own account before the end of exam and such contents will not be accessible after the exam.

2. Online Study Requirement: Courseware will be in the best view using Chrome browser in Windows desktop computer with good network connection. (It is NOT recommended to use mobile phone to view the courseware which may involve great use of data.)and please avoid open more than one tab of browsing.

3. Hong Kong Red Cross reserves all rights to make alternation on the above terms and acceptance of student enrollment.

 

** The online curriculums of this blended learning course would start 1 week before practical curriculums. Corporate or organization shall take the first day of the online curriculum as the course commencement date of the class for application.
