No, you only need to complete the online study part before the end of examination. However, if you study the online theory part before practical sessions, it will be easier and more efficient in learning the practical skills.

Student are required to study every page of the online theory part before going to next page in order to keep correct progress marked in system. You are only allowed to skip the page if you have already read that page before.

19. What courses does HKRC organize for corporates or organizations?
We offer a range of first aid courses for corporates or organizations, such as the 30 hrs Standard First Aid Certificate Course recognized by the Government of HKSAR, 2-3 hrs of First Aid Talk, 4 hrs Elementary First Aid Course and 3hrs Adult/Child/infant Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate Course. 20. How do we submit our application?
Corporate or organization shall submit the application form via the below methods at least 6 weeks before the commencement date of the class and return a signed service agreement 4 weeks before the commencement date of the class. You can submit your application online or by postage or by fax. The application will be processed in about 5 working days.
Remarks: The online curriculums of all blended learning courses would start 1 to 2 weeks before practical curriculums (please refer to the following table). Corporate or organization shall take the first day of the online curriculum as the course commencement date of the class for application.

21. What’s the requirements of training venue?
There shall be provided adequate exercise space with good condition. The venue size depends on the types of courses to be conducted, for example, it requires around 400 sq. ft for a SFA class venue with 30 participants. Please also prepare the following equipment for the class:

22. How much is the rental fee for training rooms?
Rental service includes the provision of venue, classroom facilities (chairs / tables / white board / Projector & Screen / audio visual equipment), electricity and air conditioning. Additional equipment charge of using computer is $50 per hour. Room Charges are as below:

23. How can we apply for material delivery service and how much does it cost?
Please indicate to have delivery service in application form, training materials and/or equipment will be delivered to you by 1 or 2 working days before the course commences. If returning training materials and/or equipment if required, collection would be made within 1 or 2 working days after the course completion.
Depending on training venue, service charge is different:
Hong Kong Island – around $300 per trip
Kowloon – around $170 - $220 per trip
New Territories – around $220 - $420 per trip
It includes the tunnel fee but not apply to delivery address without elevator, please contact us for more details.

24. What’s the arrangement before class commencement?
We will send out 1)
participants list (in excel format), 2) adverse weather arrangement and 3) student note to the contact person by email. Please email the completed participants list (do not make any change of the format) and the materials order form to us FOUR weeks before the commencement date of the class.
Please also distribute the important notes to participants and remind them to bring along their ID card or passport during the lesson.
Besides, corporate or organization shall collect ordered materials and/or loaned equipment at least 1 working day before the course commencement date and return them 1 working day after the exam or class completed at 4/F HKRC Head Office. Please apply for delivery service if necessary. Any late return will be charged for $50 per day for each equipment.

25. When shall we process payment?
For corporate or group, please settle the payment 14 days from the date of the invoice issued or the course commencement date (whichever is earlier). For non-profit organization, please settle the payment within 14 days after the completion of service. For government authorities, please settle the payment within 6 months after the completion of service.

26. When can we collect the exam result or certificates?
The collection date will be sent to the contact person by email about 1 month after the examination / completion of course. Please collect the certificate within 6 months from the certificate issue date at our office, otherwise, it will be written off; or indicate to apply for the mailing service in application form. It costs $100 per class for certificate postage service.

(download here) or organization staff card / HKID and class code & examination date to collect the examination result / course certificate at our office.
In no case shall the certificates of the participants be delivered to the Company or arrange any examinations before the Total Service Charge is fully paid.

27. If the minimum number of participants required for the course cannot be met, can we still apply for the training?
Yes, but you will be charged according to the minimum number of participant. For example, the number of participants for Standard First Aid Certificate Course is 16-30 persons. Therefore, the minimum application fee will be charged for at least 16 persons. If the number of participant is more than 16, we will charge them one by one additionally.

28. If the number of participants and training materials required cannot be confirmed at the time of application, what shall we do?
If such details cannot be confirmed at the time of application, the Service Agreement and Invoice will be issued according to the minimum number of participants.
Please confirm your final number of participants and required materials by returning the participant list and the material order form to us at least two weeks before the course commerce. A supplement invoice will be issued for additional number of participants and extra training material required.

29. Our account department only accepts one invoice, can it be arranged?
Yes, but please confirm the details of number of participants, training materials and related services required in the application form at once in your application. There shall not be any refund or deduction of any part of the service charge for those participant(s) who is(are) withdrawn or absent from the course after the Agreement signed.

30. How can we settle the payment if any of our candidates apply for the deferment of the examination?
In general, the candidate should apply and submit the
E02 Special Request Item Form in the name of an individual. If invoice is needed, please send us the form by email and state your request “INVOICE REQUIRED”.

31. What are the general admission criteria for Employees Retraining Board (ERB) courses?
General Admission Criteria for all ERB training courses:
i. Eligible employees of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) (i.e. lawfully employable and not subject to conditions of stay, including permanent residents of the HKSAR and new arrivals)
ii. Aged 15 or above; and
iii. Education attainment of sub-degree or below
For individual courses, applicants have to meet the specified admission requirements in addition to those listed above.
Foundation Certificate in Care-related Support Worker Training (RC011DS)
i. Completed Form 3 of secondary education; and
(ii) Unemployed, non-engaged, or dropouts from school; and
(iii) Ability to understand simple English
(iv) Pass the interview
Certificate in Health Worker Training (RC009DS)
(i) Completed Form 5 of secondary of education (must be able to provide proof of educational attainment) with at least 2 years of working experience; and
(ii) Unemployed, non-engaged, or dropouts from schools; and
(iii) Fulfill the registration requirements for health workers specified by the Social Welfare Department; and
(iv) Pass the interview
Certificate in Upgraded Caring Skills for Health Workers in Residential Care Homes for Persons with Disabilities I (Part-time) (RC003HS)
i. Registered Health Workers under the Residential Care Homes (Elderly Persons) Ordinance who are not currently working at residential care homes for persons with disabilities
Certificate in Upgraded Caring Skills for Health Workers in Residential Care Homes for Persons with Disabilities II (Part-time) (RC002HS)
i. Registered Health Workers under the Residential Care Homes (Elderly Persons) Ordinance who are currently working at residential care homes for persons with disabilities; or

Registered Health Workers under the Residential Care Homes (Elderly Persons) Ordinance who are not currently working at residential care homes for persons with disabilities and have completed the course entitled “Upgraded Caring Skills for Health Workers in Residential Care Homes for Persons with Disabilities I (Part-time)”

32. Are ERB training courses only available to applicants aged 18 or above?
Non-engaged youths aged between 15 and 17 who have attained up to secondary school education are advised to apply for the “Youth Training Programme” (YTP) courses. If an applicant is not intended to enroll in the YTP courses available and can provide adequate justification, an interview will be conducted to evaluate the situation. Recommendation may be made to request the ERB to exercise its discretion, and approval of such a request is at the discretion of the board
Part-time courses are exempted from this age requirement.

33. Are interviews needed to apply for ERB training courses?
Interviews are mandatory for applicants interested in Full Time Placement-tied courses (i.e. Foundation Certificate in Care-related Support Worker Training and Certificate in Health Worker Training). Applications will be considered only after applicants have passed the interviews successfully.

35. Can applicants cancel applications/enrollment after notification of their successful admission of ERB training courses?
Cancellation of applications/enrolment should be made, in person or in writing, to the Training Bodies offering the courses. For enrolled applicants who fail to cancel course applications duly and do not show up for the course, they will be deemed as “absent” and the paid course fees (if applicable) will not be refunded.

36. Is Applicant possessing overseas education certificate eligible for ERB training courses?
In general, applicants with non-local educational qualification may determine their equivalent local education attainment based on the number of years of school education received.
However, seeking a certificate in Health Worker Training will require compliance with the registration requirements established by the Social Welfare Department. Hence, applicants with non-local educational qualification MUST provide an assessment report from the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ). The assessment report should indicate that the overseas education attainment is equivalent to completion of Form 5 or above in Hong Kong. In addition, the proof of education attainment listed in the report should be provided.

37. What is considered valid proof of educational attainment?
Valid proof of education attainment includes graduation certificates, transcripts, school leaving certificates, reissued education certificates, or assessment reports provided by the HKCAAVQ. However, additional documents may be required based on the application and/or academic requirements of individual courses.

38. Can I apply for ERB training courses if the required proof of education attainment was lost?
Under general circumstances, should applicants fail to provide proof of education attainment at the time of first application, they may make declaration on their highest education attained in the duly signed “Course Application Form”, confirming that all information provided is correct and complete.
However, seeking a certificate in Health Worker Training will require compliance with the registration requirements established by the Social Welfare Department. Hence, at the time of application, applicants have to provide legitimate proof of education attainment.

39. What are the differences between Certificate in Health Worker Training and Foundation Certificate in Care-related Support Worker Training?
In addition to different entry requirements, they will also lead to diverse career paths. When graduates with a Foundation Certificate in Care-related Support Worker Training apply to be a Patient Care Assistant IIIA at the Hospital Authority, they will be considered qualified candidates with equivalent training. On the other hand, graduates with a Certificate in Health Worker can apply to become a registered Health Worker.

For apply for Full-time Placement-Tied Courses, applicants should visit the designated training centers in person to complete the application procedures scheduled for particular date and time. No application will be accepted without a prior appointment or if the required documents are missing.

41. Can part-time employees apply for ERB full-time placement-tied courses?
No. Only applicants who are unemployed, non-engaged, or dropouts from school are eligible for the full-time placement-tied courses.

42. Would you re-issue the certificate if I lost my certificate?
It depends on whether sufficient supporting documents can be provided or relevant student records can be retrieved. Administration fee would be imposed for successful application.

43. If I cannot attend the course due to personal reason, can I cancel my application or apply for change of class/class postponement?
No cancellation/postponement/change of class/refund of course fee would be accepted unless we have decided to cancel the class due to insufficient enrollment or unforeseeable difficulties arising from running the course.

44. If I fail to pass the examination(s), can I have make-up examination(s)?
Please refer to the course outline of individual course for details. Once the course provide the make-up examination and the student missed it without any specific reason, we will treat it as giving up all the make-up examination chances.
